Despite the ongoing security challenges in Plateau state, the annual Governors Cup; a Professional and Amateur Golf Championship sponsored by the state government will hold as planned, Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria’s (PGAN) Secretary, Jide Bolaji has revealed.
According to him, this years edition of the event will tees off on December 4th at Rayfield Golf Club in Jos, the state capital to the December 9th.. The event, Bolaji explains further will attracts a large field of all touring professional golfers who are members of the association.
While PGAN Secretary is optimistic of a large turnout, there are indications that the event will attract fewer players as most of the Southern based golfers may missed the tournament mainly because of the distance to Jos and the amount of money on offer.
Also expected to missed the event are Category-One players who would be representing their state at the National Sports Festival which also holds in December.
